Our Purpose
Plant Trust (GPCAA Inc.) exists to protect the diversity of garden plants in Australia. It does this by supporting the identification, cataloguing and registration of significant plant collections held across the country, recognising their value to conservation, education, and the long‑term survival and preservation of Australia’s richly varied garden plants.
Australia’s diverse climates and soils place it in a unique position to contribute to global garden plant conservation. In support of this role, Plant Trust promotes plant knowledge and learning through activities such as visits to the gardens of collection holders, exclusive guided tours of public and privately held gardens, and auctions of rare and threatened garden plants, as well as through the publication of its member-only quarterly Genus whose readership includes botany students at the Universities of Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide, among others.
Established in 1986, Plant Trust is celebrating 40 years in 2026.
